Six Socorro Warriors make Class 3A All-State football team

Watch out for a festive dust-up in the desert! Six Socorro Warriors have been selected to appear on the 2023 Class 3A All-State football team, as announced by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association. It is a historic moment for Socorro High School, where these gridiron warriors showed their grit and talent amidst unbridaled determination.

Dual Threat Domination:

At the front of pack are two-way stars Isiah Ocampo and Kaden Dow. Ocampo's sizzling play as both a quarterback and defensive back won him spots on the First Team Offense and Second Team Defense. Dow, a two-way terror as well on both sides of the ball, catches your eye for First Team Defense and Second Team Offense. These multi-talented Warriors were the stuff of nightmares for opposing teams, leaving broken tackles and highlight plays in their wake.

Offensive Powerhouse:

Socorro's offense wasn't a one-man show. Together with Ocampo on the First Team Offense are Adrian Herrera and Marcus Sanchez, who at running back are making life even harder for opposing defenses. Their punishing runs and elusive jukes kept defenses on their toes all season, putting up numbers for touchdowns as well yards.

Defense on Lockdown:

Dow's heroics weren't the only thing in the Warriors 'defensive arsenal. Linebacker Diego Martinez found a well-deserved place on the Second Team Defense, displaying his knack for getting into plays and disrupting them in the backfield. Other members of the Socorro group include lineman Isaiah Chavez, who helped solidify their defensive line with his size and immovable style. He was named Second Team Defense for these efforts.

Warriors Coach Elated:

exclaimed Socorro Head Coach Carlos Garcia. "This is a tremendous feat for our program and players." These six selections to the All-State team are a testament not only to their hard work and extraordinary abilities, but also a result of our school community's valiant effort supporting them along. Their combined Warrior determination on (and off) the field makes me immensely proud!

A Bright Future Ahead:

The six All-State players returning next season promise a bright future for the Socorro Warriors. Their talent, experience and new-found confidence promise to make them a force against which others will have to reckon in the 2024 Class 3A landscape.
